Dry skin is one of the most common problems in the cosmetic dermatology clinic. The skin is constantly in the process of dehydration, hardly surprising since the skin is the last barrier between the inner body and the outer environment.
Our natural environment is “rather” hostile (pollution, dust, UV rays, weather changes etc.), and the skin reacts and adjusts to these changes. All these factors cause loss of fluids or dehydration.
Luckily, our body has compensatory mechanisms, but these can not always withstand the overload. The key to caring for dry skin is keeping it constantly well-hydrated, well-nourished and protected from hostile environmental influences.
